I wanted to make a page about my beloved cat, Hogarth. I want everyone to know all about him!
Hogarth came to live with me in March of 2015. I had just moved to a new apartment, and in doing so I stayed with a friend over night while I was in between moving out of my old place and into the new one. That's where I met Hogarth. I had heard about him a bit from my friend during lunch breaks at work. About a year earlier, she and her mom had found him in the street and took him in. After a while he was given the name "Hogarth" after Hogarth Hughes from The Iron Giant (1999).
My friend had a lot of pets in her house already, and since she knew I would be looking to adopt a cat after moving to the new apartment, she asked if I'd like him. I politely declined at first, but after a few days I couldn't stop thinking about him. He was really sweet and cuddly, and of course, insanely handsome. So I asked "hey.... were you serious about if I'd like to have him?"
And so Hogarth came to live with me! He kept the name "Hogarth" because I also love that movie. It's unknown how old he really is, but I think adding two years to how long I've had him sounds about right. That makes him around 13 years old, give or take.
Hogarth is perfect, handsome and very nice. He'll sit in your lap and talk to you, but he also may bite you because he is a complex individual with several layers... but he is ultimately a cool guy. He loves hanging out while you do whatever, sometimes a little bit too close, but it's just so he can see what you're doing and offer you some helpful advice. Or so he can chew on your pen or paintbrush. Sometimes when he wakes up from a daytime nap, he looks like a well-loved skrunkly teddy bear, but his fur is still extra soft. He has a pink nose.
Hogarth smells like fresh laundry because he's always laying in some. He loves the smell of freshly worn shoes and hats. He likes to sit on your backpack or purse. He wants baked goods more than anything in the world, and will try to grab that cookie right out of your hand. He loves water from the bathtub tap, and will wait there until someone passes by and turns it on for him. He ignores the water that drips on his head. Hogarth loves to rip cardboard and paper apart with his teeth and spit the pieces on the floor. A paper bag is the ultimate toy. He's also good at hole-punching, and would do great work as a timecard puncher at the Bedrock quarry.
Hogarth has epilepsy with an unknown cause (managed well with medication), has lost several teeth to tooth resorption, and has signs of early kidney disease, but none of that has ever stopped him from doing what he has to do!
Let's look at Hogarth a bunch of times in a row now.

Hogarth has been known to become possessed from time to time, but it usually passes quickly. All you have to do is put him in another room and close the door for roughly 12 seconds, and he will factory reset.
Hogarth became a homeowner around the age of 10, but he was only able to do it with a gift of five dollars from his legal guardian. He has since abandoned this house and is deeply in debt.
Hogarth will wear a costume and take some photos if the price is right. The price is a lot of treats. Like, a lot.
A great thing about Hogarth is he LOVES these little ball toys. They are his favourite thing in the world (besides cookies) and when he wakes up from a nap, he will scan the room to find one. Once he's locked onto the target, he will pick it up in his mouth and just hold it for a while. Head empty, ball in mouth, no thoughts. Then, once his brain reactivates, he'll head over to his food bowl, drop the toy and have a bite to eat. It's really weird but it makes me laugh every time he does it, which is several times per day.
He is super soft (extra doux).
Hogarth's golden eyeballs are mesmerizing and people have come from all corners of the earth to ponder his orbs.
Hogarth is very serious about his cybertronian studies, but even the most diligent student needs a break now and then.
